VOCATIONAL TRAINING LEVY AND REIMBURSEMENTS

The Vocational Training Fund refers to a Fund created by the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs under the Vocational Training Act of 1998, the purpose of which is to reimburse employers who have incurred costs training their employees. The Fund receives money from government subventions as well as a levy imposed by the Minister through the Vocational Training (Levy) Order 2008 on all employers with turnover of more than P250 000.00.


APPEALS PROCEDURE ON REGISTRATION AND ACCREDITATION

The purpose of this procedure is to afford training institutions an opportunity to appeal against any actions that may impede progress towards registration and/or accreditation of their vocational training institutions with Botswana Training Authority. 1st April 2009 : Employers can submit claim forms for reimbursement of staff training costs from the Vocational Training Fund.

April 2009: BOTA offices expected to have moved to the new office building in Block 7 Gaborone.

May 2009: Commencement of the Regional heats for the BOTA/Department of Culture and Youth HIV and AIDS Drama Competitions for Vocational Training Institutes.

September 2009: Tentative date for the 8th African IVETA Regional Conference in Namibia
